I recently curated  The 62 Group’s latest exhibition at Gallery Oldham. My aim was to show the sheer diversity of textiles, from the perspective of some of Britain’s leading practitioners. Highlights for me included Aimee Spilsted’s beautifully crafted tryptich collage and Julia Burrow’s dazzling arrangement of magazine cuttings.

During the installation I received an inspirational phone call from Rozanne Hawksley – one of my all time favourite artists. Now in her eighties, she thanked me for the opportunity to take part, confiding that it took her many years to break into the scene. If ever I needed a spur to keep my art practice going, I found one!
