Today I was at another meeting with the Real World Science network in Birmingham. We spent time discussing strategies for change within our organisations, based on reflective learning from the Explore Urban Nature project. We also shared session ideas and had a fascinating tour of the Tudor hall.

Whilst listening to spine-tingling ghost stories and staring through a leaded window, I happened to spy the spectoral presence of an elusive fox, rooting through the bins outside. Proof that nature really is everywhere – even if you only have a 2% chance of spotting this variety at this location!

It’s all about the environmental work my team are currently doing in schools. Listen on spotify:

This week I’ve been in Cardiff, meeting colleagues from the Real World Science network. We discussed delivery of the national Explore Urban Nature project (the museum where I work is one of 11 delivery partners alongside NHM), plus ways to sustain science engagement in museums. It’s always brilliant to meet counterparts and explore their museum collections. I’m on an amazing journey to develop my science knowledge, 30 years after I last studied the subject at school. I’m also passionate about producing public programmes to address the issue of climate change. Very thankful for a fun and inspiring few days in great company.
